Loved reading this and have made a booklist for borrowing and buying. Thank you! I hope you are okay, health wise. I get shivers up my spine when I hear about people suffering terrible fatigue, especially the unshakeable kind. Thinking of you on this crispy, silvery morn. xx

What a sweet comment dear Pip, thank you ❤️ nothing to fear, it was all self-inflicted and things have really improved after a week of strict rest. Some of it is mental as well, needing to detach and care a bit less about things that are out of my control. It was layer upon layer of things, really, which came to a head and I was forced to really take it easy. Which I didn’t like, but it does appear to have done the job! Apologies if the way I phrased things was overly dramatic. I feel very lucky that it was a temporary thing and it’s been a much-needed wake up call to take better care of myself. Hope you’ve had a restful and cosy weekend too xx

no need to be sorry at all!! just would hate for you to have anything lingering and life limiting (longer term). that sentiment doesn't help with your fatigue though! hoping you are feeling so much better super soon. xx

This is so lovely. I have a Janey, too! She is, mind you, a ten-year-old Maine Coon cat. I will go looking for your friend's book, it sounds very nourishing. I loved the writing advice about reading our favourite paragraphs. Writing a book is so often a hard and lonely business; it is important to remember why we do it, and indeed that we *can* do it, but we can take time, and time away x

Thank you for your lovely comment Dani! 🧡 how sweet that you have a Janey too! It didn’t take us long to arrive at the perfect name for her, as we didn’t want to keep her racing name (mostly because my sister’s cat had the same name 😂) and I was keen on something literary. We both loved Jane Austen, Janey for short, immediately. Yes, I am finding the book hard going at the moment, but have been advised to lower the stakes and not feel I have to devote every spare hour to it, at least not for now. I read through my old PhD notebooks yesterday and was reminded of how much work I’ve done and how deeply I have thought about this book and the way I’ve constructed it over the years. The work is kind of done, I just have to pull it together in a different way. Which in theory should be easy…but it’s really not 😜 I so appreciate your encouragement x
